I truly thought those last two were longshots. What a great ending! LOL, who saw me throw a random "Charms 4" section on the end as we kept going. Full scramble mode. And we almost unlocked that one as well!! Ha, backers still grumbly about that Warstriders goal from 8 years ago! I thought we had it!! I've learned lessons about Stretch Goal ordering since then!

So a huge congratulations to Vance, Elliott and the team on this project, and to all of the backers who've joined in to make this possible. I'm happy about the goals we hit and rewards we introduced, but I'm also always amazed and excited about having 2,126 backers join in to support this epic game - and that epic Backer Train at the end! We lasted almost an extra hour!!

COMMUNICATION

So, as noted in today's earlier update, starting around the end of January I'll be sending out updates once a month and whenever we've got a new goal, survey, or other item to cover. If you have any questions or need clarification on something related to the campaign, feel free to get in touch. I may not respond until the new year, but after I've recovered from this campaign, that outrageous backer train, and all of 2025, I'll be in touch!

Four years passed swiftly. What once was Shumad became the Tassam Empire. Nerim remained the capital. Its walls were rebuilt within the year, and new sections depicted the night the Circle liberated the city: Six Wicked Strings smashing the gate, Nehramus Cast-Down-the-Heavens unlocking prison cells, Ajad radiant before a cowering king. Marvelous Cinnabar appeared twice: a striking figure at the helm of his ship and the towering monster rising out of the ocean ahead of it. Swift Hart Qu was depicted receiving the surrender of the Shumad generals, though in truth he’d spent most of that night working from the shadows. The artists had insisted on representing them all in some form, though, so accepting surrender it was.

Tassam had prospered. With Nerim stabilized, they’d looked outward. Cinnabar’s fleet controlled shipping lanes throughout the Sayfar Domain, bringing several ports into the empire. Under Six’s command, the empire’s influence spread inland as well. Ajad had discovered a warstrider deep within a First Age ruin, and brought in sorcerer-engineers to repair it. The Circle had even tamed a clutch of flying behemoths, as much as any such beasts could be tamed. The shadow of their leathery wings blotted out the sun when they passed overhead, stoking enemies’ fears.

But every year the Bronze Tide grew closer, swallowing up more and more of the Cinder Isles. At last, they’d arrived at Nerim. Their ships blockaded the harbor. Their army sat outside the gates, eager to begin the attack.

The Circle met in the council room. The siege had lasted weeks now, and unrest was taking its toll on the city. The Tide had been preceded by a wave of refugees, driven from their homes by the advancing forces. Nehramus had ordered them to be welcomed, clothed, and fed, given shelter and work. As it was, the Ascendant spent half her waking hours conjuring locusts to feed the city and fend off starvation.

Ajad and Six hovered over battle plans, arguing over their options.

“They’ll burn everything if they take the city,” said Six. “I’ve seen what they leave behind and it isn’t much. Kill the defenders, enslave anyone they deem useful, destroy the rest.” The Tide’s advance was only part of what had kept him busy in the outlying territories these last few years. Behind them would come Spear-Empress Bhadri and her Fair Folk.

“They won’t take it.” Ajad shuffled through dispatches, frowning at what she read therein. “Has there been any other word from our envoys?”

“The message is the same every time: Surrender.” Cinnabar paced back and forth. He wanted to be on the Pandemonium, cutting through the waves toward the Bronze Tide’s fleet, not here talking about it.

Qu consulted a sheaf of letters, some from his spies within Nerim, others from his contacts in neighboring city-states. “My informants say that Jural Three-Trees, one of Lukha’s advisors, meets with would-be rebels on the outskirts of Burr. And that there’s a rift between the two on the matter of what to do with Bhadri should they capture her. There’s an opportunity.”

“He’s right.” Six tapped the map where Burr was located, a small port less than a day’s ride from Nerim. “And even if this Jural wishes to remain loyal, we’ll have the chance to sow dissent.”

“We?” asked Nehramus.

Cinnabar finally stopped pacing, standing beside Qu. “If there are rebels plotting, we can root them out while we’re there.”

He said this to Ajad, who leveled a glare at him. “None of you need to go in person to shut down a handful of malcontents.”

“Burr has taken in hundreds of refugees,” said Nehramus. “They’re the ones who’ll suffer if you end up fighting one of Luna’s Chosen in the streets.”

Ajad nodded. She and Nehramus butted heads often, but in this they were united. “It puts our resources at unnecessary risk. When the siege lifts, we have shipments of food and supplies waiting in its harbor.”

Qu peered between the two of them. “What if the rebels set fire to the supply ships? Or the Bronze Tide seizes them for itself and razes the town? If we go, at least we’ll have tried something.”

Before they could argue further, a resonant clattering filled the air. Blood-ape guards threw the council room’s doors open to admit a rolling, rumbling oldrasek. The messenger-demon rolled toward Nehramus, and said in a chiming voice, “The generals report movement among the troops. Lukha Palash stands outside the gates, demanding an audience.”

Lukha Palash, the cobalt-haired leader of the Bronze Tide, hadn’t come alone. His entourage consisted of the keen-eyed Jural Three-Trees; a white-haired Yensei strategist named Parav; and several demon servitors including Astogal, his shape covered in flowers perpetually blooming and rotting.

Lukha had brought refreshments, delicacies from across the Cinder Isles: Mygdon wine, pomegranates from fallen Argidos, Issyk honey spread on flatbread. Such foods were both enticement and warning — see what riches we’ve taken from the people we’ve conquered. Six and Cinnabar partook with pleasure despite the tension. Qu and Ajad were more subdued, eating and drinking as much as etiquette required and nothing more. Nehramus declined all that was offered, insisting she couldn’t eat while her people went hungry within the city.

“That could all end now,” said Lukha. “Open the gates. Let us into the harbor. Nerim’s people can flee — those that we don’t need — and we’ll allow you to leave alive. You’ve conquered one empire. Surely you can find another somewhere suitable. You can even have your pick of treasures to take with you.”

Parav cleared her throat. “Within reason,” she said. She craned her neck to peer at the city’s warstrider, whose form towered above the gates. “We’ll be keeping that.”

“Or you could go back to your fleet and sail on,” said Ajad. “You can afford some losses, but how many ships smashed to flinders is too many? The waves will be red with your people’s blood before this is over, and when Bhadri and her Twelve Companions catch up to you, you’ll wish you hadn’t broken yourselves on the empire of Tassam.”

“You could join us,” said Lukha. “Add your fleet to ours and we’ll stand against the Fair Folk together.”

“Under your rule?” asked Qu.

Lukha spread his hands as if to say just so. “You’d be my advisors. The Tide has founded cities of its own. You could do the same, as part of us.”

“This is the city we chose,” said Six. “We’re not about to cede it to your rabble.”

Lukha smiled, but it had a dangerous, feral edge.

The talks broke down before sunset. The Bronze Tide insisted they’d be taking Nerim, and the Circle refused to yield.

“I should at least have bargained for more of that wine,” said Cinnabar to Qu. They were aboard the Sunrise Pandemonium, moving swiftly over the waves. The Bronze Tide’s fleet vastly outnumbered Tassam’s navy, but that hadn’t lessened Cinnabar’s eagerness to fight. It was just before dawn; the last stars were fading as the sky lightened. In the distance, the Tide’s lookouts would be getting their first glimpses of the navy approaching.

Dark shapes kept pace with the Pandemonium underwater. Every so often, something massive broke the surface in a spray of salt and seafoam, then submerged once more. Qu had lost track of which shapes were demons and which were behemoths beckoned by the Lintha among Cinnabar’s crew.

“I suppose you can try to salvage some from the ships we board today,” said Qu.

“My list of desired spoils is as long as your arm.” Cinnabar grinned. “I’ll present Lukha’s head to Ajad, but I’m keeping a lock of his hair.”

Six Wicked Strings hefted a chunk of stone from a pile of debris. Ajad would be furious at the prospect of having to repair the walls again, should they survive this. The enemy battalion had a Prince of the Earth among them, and moments ago the gates shook with the force of the Earth Aspect’s strikes before they gave way and the Bronze Tide’s warriors streamed through.

As he turned the stone over in his hands, he noticed it was part of the mural where the former rulers surrendered to the Circle. There was poetry in this, he was sure, but it would have to wait. The Dragon-Blooded monk slammed her fists into the ground. The ripples threw a dozen fighters off balance, but Six stood tall and unwavering.

The monk spotted him and leapt, her arc carrying her over the fallen and landing her before Six. He held the stone high and brought it smashing down, but she rolled away. She regained her feet quickly and charged, grabbing his arm.

Six let her get a hold of him. He waited until they were pressed close together, clasping her wrists and locking his leg around hers. Mouths opened all over his skin, teeth snapping eagerly. He laughed as she recoiled, but it was too late: his tail traced a line across the back of her neck, its barb dribbling with venom.

Nehramus chased Astagol into the palace garden. The demon had cavorted through Nerim, terrorizing all in his path with the searing rain that swirled around his body. He was bound to another, and Nehramus was unable to wrest control away from whoever that might be.

He fled from her at every turn — what she’d done to him last time wasn’t easily forgotten. But at last she had him cornered. He didn’t beg for mercy, didn’t attempt to bargain or wheedle. When her fists pummeled his abstract flesh, he gibbered with pain as pieces of his material form sloughed away.

But Nehramus suffered, too, her skin sizzling as each strike passed through the poison rain surrounding him. At last, Astagol dissipated, and she clutched her hands to her chest and wept.

She didn’t see the invader approaching her, dagger raised high.

Not, that was, until a blade glowing with Ligier’s green fire sang through the air and severed his hand. Flames licked at the stump, then engulfed the man entirely. Ajad stepped in close and drove her sword into his heart. She let the body fall. “I might have let him scream awhile,” she said, “but I didn’t think you’d like that.”

Nehramus smiled wearily. “After the day we’ve all had, I might not be opposed.”

“Well, we’re not dead yet.” Ajad sheathed the sword and crouched beside Nehramus, reaching for her hands. “First, let me see to those.”

Debris and bodies bobbed on the waves, the seafoam and water beneath churning with crimson. Siaka circled, eager to feast on the dead and nearly-dead. Qu was bloody and exhausted, but rest was a distant dream. The Bronze Tide was relentless, its numbers beyond even what they’d imagined. Cinnabar and his crew seemed energized by it all, roaring as they clambered aboard another vessel.

Qu was among the last to go across, hanging back to provide cover. Like now, when a raider dropped down from the rigging, dagger ready to strike the boy — Atash — from behind.

Only, Qu flung a poison needle into the woman’s neck. Before blood could flow, she disappeared, banished to some other space for a time. Qu had a moment to glance back toward Nerim. Smoke curled from several districts, and even from so far away, people were fighting everywhere he looked. Should we have surrendered? Should we have made a deal, no matter how bitter a pill for all of us?

Then came the bone-chilling roar of the warstrider. On the other side of the city, it rose to its full height and stepped over Nerim’s gates. Terrified shouts — thin at this distance, but distinct — reached Qu’s ears. Six must have been at the helm, or maybe Ajad. From the other side of the gangplank, Cinnabar whooped with glee.

“Come on,” he called to Qu. “We have work to do.”

That's right! We smashed this one as we head into our final hours!

1. KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SUPPORTING

Backers can read the entire current draft of the manuscript <HERE>. Please make sure you read the manuscript before the campaign concludes so you know exactly what you're pledging to support.

You also have the opportunity to share your feedback with the developers at this draft stage, helping guide them through the next steps of development and editing. You can use this Feedback Form to share your thoughts with the team until the end of the year. The form closes on December 31st, so make sure any notes you have are submitted before we head into 2026.

2. PLEDGE TIERS and ADD ONS

This update breaks down your best starting point for figuring out which Backer Reward Tier to choose to help support this project in a way that works for you.

The first decision you need to make is what form your rewards will take. Do you want your main rewards in digital form and are going for the PDF rulebook? Or do you have space on your shelf for the deluxe hardcover book? (Note - the hardcover version includes the PDF as a bonus!).

NEWLY CROWNED

This is the PDF-only reward tier. So, if you're saving trees or saving shelf space - or avoiding the shipping charges that are absolutely ever-increasing - this is the reward tier options that you should begin with. The PDF will be fulfilled by our partners at DriveThruRPG.com - when it is ready, you will receive a link to add it to your DTRPG library at no cost and be able to download at your leisure.

GREEN SUN PRINCE

This reward tier includes the deluxe hardcover version of this book. Shipping costs ARE NOT included in the cost of your pledge. You will be charged for shipping after the campaign through the pledge manager. In addition, this option also includes the PDF version, so you will get a digital copy as described above.

CANDIDATE FOR EXALTATION

Not ready to commit, or just looking to offer general support? This pledge tier is for you. This does not include our primary reward, but allows you to select most digital optional Add Ons, as well as participating in the post-campaign Pledge Manager as a backer. You'll also be able to read the draft manuscript of Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire that we post throughout this campaign.

An important reminders at this stage:

Shipping Costs: We’ll be charging for shipping in the Pledge Manager once the books are being printed and we can deal with the actual shipping charges rather than using our best-guesses this far out. We’re still anticipating pretty hefty costs to ship the book internationally (see our current guesses on the story page) so be forewarned, but we’ll cross that enormous bridge when we get to it.

ADD-ON OPTIONS - The other half of our Reward Tiers update, including information on the second step of pledging. There are several Add On options that you can add as part of your pledging process, including the other Exalted Third Edition splat PDFs. And for this final day only, you can add the Green Fire Day older edition bundles to your pledge (these two rewards are the only ones not available to select in the Pledge Manager after the campaign).

I know I'm hammering on that one a lot, but it's the rare exception that won't be available to add on in the post-campaign Pledge Manager, and it's also a great deal that I've only seen offered once before, so don't want anyone interested to miss out!

All other ADD ON selections will be available in the post-campaign Pledge Manager as well.

SO: Ensure that you've selected the Reward Tier you want, and select any Add On options you wish to include. AND - make sure that you are comfortable with the Pledge amount, in terms of it covering everything you want and the affordability of the pledge at this moment!

I'm going to speak against my own self interest for a moment, and repeat something I say at the end of every campaign - 2025 has been pretty chaotic year, and there's even more uncertainty ahead. Ensure that your circumstances enable you to afford this pledge at this moment - BackerKit will begin processing payments late tonight after the campaign ends and neither Onyx Path nor I have any involvement in that process. If you are unsure of your financial situation but don't want to miss out, please pledge for a tier you can afford right now and know that you will be able to upgrade to open pledge levels in our post-campaign Pledge Manager for some time before the book is completed. There are no refunds for regret, and the funds raised start being spent immediately on paying for the work done thus far and the additional work ahead plus the projects unlocked via Stretch Goal. So please be financially responsible.

Read the Manuscripts and Make Sure You Know What You're Getting
Be Aware of the Projected Delivery Date (Onyx Path will try to deliver earlier than this, but the book will take some time to get perfect, and we're dealing with an imperfect world. Schedules sometimes go awry)

Exalted fans have five dots in Patience. Onyx Path has been pretty great about getting the backer PDF out ahead of schedule, and are working with a new printing parter to hopefully get caught up on deluxe production in 2026, but the stretch goal companions take time to get right. This development team cares a lot, and puts in the effort to deliver amazing work, and that takes time and care. I'll make sure to share regular updates after we go along to keep everyone in the loop, but your patience is always appreciated.

3. PAYMENT AND CONTACT INFORMATION

Once you're comfortable with your pledge, please ensure that the payment and contact information in your BackerKit account is up to date and correct. Making sure your e-mail is entered correctly and your credit card isn't expired will speed up the next step process. (I have learned from experience!)

4. OVERTIME MODE

Overtime Mode extends the campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge and adds an interesting twist to the end of the campaign. How long will it extend? That’s entirely up to backers: The campaign will keep going for an additional 10 minutes as long as pledges keep coming in – a chain of back-to-back pledges is called the Backer Train. The campaign will end only when the Backer Train stops after a period of 10 minutes passing without any pledges.

You’ll know we’re in Overtime Mode when the campaign’s Backer Train counter displays a bright rainbow border and a new countdown that resets to 10 minutes after each new backer joins that final Backer Train ride.

So, we've scheduled the campaign to conclude on December 18th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time, but it'll be extended in 10 minute chunks as long as backers keep pledging. Will we add an extra 10 minutes? An extra 20? Or will it all finish up as planned? Who knows, but we'll find out together! Rally the troops!

WHAT COMES NEXT?

5. AFTER THE CAMPAIGN ENDS

First, we celebrate. The campaign page will subtly change, locking out the ability to pledge and showing the final totals. We'll give socially-distanced high fives and digital fist bumps in the Community section and over on Discord.

Then, the BackerKit payment process begins. Starting late tonight and continuing over the next week, Backerkit will begin charging your payment methods for the total amount you've pledged.

If there is an issue with your payment method (expired credit card or incorrect number or pre-paid Visa awaiting funds, for example), BackerKit will keep trying to process payment during this time.

Once this step is done, which will likely be by the end of the year, BackerKit will confirm everything with Onyx Path and I can begin to set up the project in the Pledge Manager and load in all of the campaign data.

In addition to providing the crowdfunding platform for this campaign, BackerKit is also Onyx Path's regular Pledge Manager partner.

BackerKit provides a robust fulfillment integration and pledge management program that will allow us to work with all of the data and distribute the rewards to you. It will take me about a month to set the project up. Once I've got it all entered and built, the team from BackerKit will review to ensure I didn't mess anything up too badly, and then I'll make any changes they've suggested and we can move on to the Survey stage.

6. BACKERKIT SURVEYS

Once BackerKit says I'm good to go, I will send out a survey to all backers. This is why confirming your e-mail is important!

The BackerKit survey is both a verb and a noun - it will collect data for the analysis of some aspect of a group (enabling Onyx Path to set schedules, prioritize new projects, and fine-tune future campaigns), as well as providing a general review or summary of the reward tier you've chosen, confirm all of the rewards associated with that reward tier, and confirm your total pledge amount.

I expect Surveys to go out late January 2026.

During the Survey period, you can choose to increase your reward tier and add on additional options. If you've found $20 in your winter coat or found an alternate income source and decide it's time to trade up to the Deluxe Edition tiers or include another add-on, you can do so at this time. Note, you will not be able to reduce your reward tier selection, only increase.

If you selected Add On options, they'll be added to your reward list automatically.

Note that you'll be able to upgrade your pledge tier for quite some time - until we're getting ready to distribute the hardcover books and know the shipping costs. So don't feel pressure to have it all figured out right away - we'll make sure there's plenty of time to get it all sorted before the books go out.

I'll also use the Survey to confirm details for the premium reward tiers and collect backer names for inclusion in the book.

7. REWARD DISTRIBUTION

Once the surveys are up and running, I'll prepare fulfillment for the existing rewards - the Add On options that are all currently available, like the Exalted Third Edition PDFs, and the Alchemicals draft manuscript (or the backer PDF, if it's available by that time). Depending on how smoothly the Pledge Manager process goes, those should be out fairly soon after the survey stage starts. So, let's say the existing PDF rewards will be out to you by the end of January 2026. That's only the beginning, though.

This is a long process, but I will send out regular updates (usually at the end of the month) to keep you up to speed on Onyx Path's progress. There will be strings of updates that are just "still working on it," but I will share new artwork or information when I can.

Eventually, we will have a completed PDF of Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire. Onyx Path will take some time to distribute, review, and compile any errata or corrections that need to be made. When they've made any necessary changes, they'll make an updated version of the PDF available in your DriveThruRPG digital library and then begin creating print-ready files for the Print-on-Demand hardcover version.

We're are in the final 24 hours of the campaign as I prepare this post. Within this final day, I wanted to review some important topics, most especially our current Stretch Goal situation. Let's get to the review!

We're in the Final Day countdown for this Crowdfunding campaign. Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire finishes the crowdfunding campaign on December 18th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. There's still time to capture a crown, but we're definitely getting closer to the finish line. With that in mind, I wanted to touch on some of the basics over these final three days to make sure everyone has the information they need to support this project in the way that works best for them.

There's still time to summon a second circle demon, but we're definitely getting closer to the finish line. With that in mind, I wanted to touch on some of the basics over these final days to make sure everyone has the information they need to support this project in the way that works best for them.

Whether you're just starting to feel the spark of Exaltation or a planning to challenge Ligier to one-on-one combat (hahahaha!), these are some good topics to review over this week to make sure we all end up where we want to be.

Refresher Course

Note for New Backers: Please check out the updates listed above. There's a lot of information there that will be important to know about before the end, like which books are included in our pledges for this campaign and what additional Add On options exist. Plus, you can read the entire draft manuscript before the end of the campaign and any pledges are processed.

MANUSCRIPT PREVIEW - As noted, the complete Preview Manuscript for the book is available for you to review prior to the conclusion of the campaign. If you're a backer, you'll have access to this preview manuscript after the campaign. Remember, though, there are still some minor edits, development and proofing that need to be done, but you can consider it most of the way there and a good representation of what you'll get in the final book. Making the manuscript available for review before the campaign ends ensures that everyone knows exactly what our goal is - making this book - and are on board with our aims for this project. Thanks for your support, we're all in this together!

PLEDGE TIERS - This update breaks down your best starting point for figuring out which Backer Reward Tier to choose to help support this project in a way that works for you.

The main reward offered in this campaign is, of course, the main goal of the entire proposition: the finished book for Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire. The first decision you need to make is what form your rewards will take. Do you want your main rewards in digital form and are going for the PDF rulebook? Or do you have space on your shelf for the deluxe hardcover book? (Note - the hardcover version includes the PDF as a bonus!).

With that decision in mind, we've got three key reward tiers to choose from:

NEWLY CROWNED

This is the PDF-only reward tier. So, if you're saving trees or saving shelf space - or avoiding the shipping charges that are absolutely ever-increasing - this is the reward tier options that you should begin with. The PDF will be fulfilled by our partners at DriveThruRPG.com - when it is ready, you will receive a link to add it to your DTRPG library at no cost and be able to download at your leisure.

GREEN SUN PRINCE

This reward tier includes the deluxe hardcover version of this book. Shipping costs ARE NOT included in the cost of your pledge. You will be charged for shipping after the campaign through the pledge manager. In addition, this option also includes the PDF version, so you will get a digital copy as described above.

Candidate for Exaltation

Not ready to commit, or just looking to offer general support? This pledge tier is for you. This does not include our primary reward, but allows you to select most digital optional Add Ons, as well as participating in the post-campaign Pledge Manager as a backer. You'll also be able to read the draft manuscript of Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire that we post throughout this campaign.

Choose Wisely

Choosing the correct Reward Tier for your desired rewards, and then filling in any "gaps" with add-ons, ensures that you'll be claiming all of your desired rewards as a thank you for supporting this project and bringing this world to life.

Remember, your PLEDGE AMOUNT is equal to your REWARD TIER + ADD ONS. You will also be able to select most Add On options in the Pledge Manager after the campaign, but remember that only funds added during the campaign count towards Stretch Goal funding targets.

Also to note, only those who participate during the campaign are able to have Stretch Goal rewards added automatically to their rewards lists. If you're waiting to pre-order at a later time, it's better to pledge to the Candidate for Exaltation tier now and then simply upgrade your pledge later to include these bonus rewards.

I'll be honest here, before the campaign launched, I thought we were going to maybe get to third Charms section for the companion and finish up there. Not that I didn't know how mighty the Infernals fans were, I just figured the world was working against us and other challenges would be running interference. But we saw how quickly the campaign funded, and how strong it ran the entire duration of the campaign.

So, since we've got just about a day left, let's set another goal to expand our companion book even more! And - to really test ourselves - maybe one more super goal that we can strive for, even if it ends up just out of reach.

I really like that Face of the Titans goal, and I'm sure with some effort and spreading the word over this last day, we may be able to unlock it and add it to our Companion. The Price of Damnation goal is super exciting and I'd really love that one too, but it is a big leap. So, let's push hard and see how close we can get!!

Shipping Costs will be Collected in the Pledge Manager

First up, it's amazingly expensive to ship, especially from Onyx Path's home base in the US. And that's as of today - we're all in the dark about how things will look in 2 years. We get that, but there's not much we can do at this time. Onyx Path is in a difficult space where the company is big enough that they're not saving money by fulfilling out of Rich's garage, but small enough that they haven't been able to set up ongoing international partners to handle portions of the fulfillment. So we are where we are - for now.

The best we can do at this point is to plan carefully, advise everyone up front that shipping will likely be expensive (see our projections on the main page) and only charge what it costs us when the time comes. We’ll be charging for shipping in the Pledge Manager once the books are being printed and we can deal with the actual shipping charges rather than using our best-guesses this far out. If you aren't sure you want one of the hardcover editions, you can pledge to the PDF tier now and upgrade your pledge in the Pledge Manager once we know the final shipping costs.

Draft Manuscript Previews

Over the course of the these 30 days, backers will receive the entire current draft manuscript for Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire, but it's not going to come to you all in one go. The previews will come out in Exalt-sized sections throughout the campaign. This helps me seem interesting over the next several weeks, but it's more about guiding the conversation and helping steer feedback for the developers.

Because they want your feedback! These manuscript previews are of the current draft manuscript – the document in its latest, approved form. This may not be the final form after editing and any additional development, but you can consider it about 95% finished, so keep that in mind.

PLEDGE REWARD TIERS

Like it says right at the top of the campaign story page, we've come together to help create a fully developed PDF and hardcover versions for the latest expansion to Exalted Third Edition, Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire. Many of you have touched the Infernals through the Exalted: Essence book, ore more likely been a fan since earlier editions, but this presents the first real journey into the Demon Realm for Third Edition.

PLEDGING YOUR SUPPORT

To borrow an analogy that I've used in past campaigns, this process we're a part of works similar to the "Viewers Like You" support campaign from your local Public Broadcasting Station (for those who get American television channels or watched Sesame Street in the pre-Netfllix era): There are various levels of support that you can pledge to, and these come with various levels of rewards offered as a thank you. Like getting a tote bag or t-shirt when you give money to public broadcasting to fund them doing their thing, you can get rewards for helping Onyx Path work on this project.

Let's review the Backer Reward Tiers to ensure that you've pledged to a Reward Tier that provides all the rewards you wish to receive.

An important reminders at this stage:

Shipping Costs: We’ll be charging for shipping in the Pledge Manager once the books are being printed and we can deal with the actual shipping charges rather than using our best-guesses this far out. We’re still anticipating pretty hefty costs to ship the book internationally (see our current guesses on the story page) so be forewarned, but we’ll cross that enormous bridge when we get to it.

A selection of Premium Tiers offer special limited rewards in addition to our core rewards for this campaign. Check each of the individual Reward Tier descriptions for more detail, but in summary:

Heretical Innovator asks you to suggest a new Charm for the Infernal Exalted.
The Monster Made Flesh asks you to describe your character so that Onyx Path artists can incorporate it into an interior illustration for an upcoming Infernals supplement.
Treasure-House Tyrant has you share your ideas for a new artifact that will get written up in an Infernals supplement.
Hellish Duke asks you to pick an Second Circle demon, either mentioned in the draft manuscript or previous Exalted material, who will receive a write-up in an Infernal supplement.
The Unquestionable will have you pick a Third Circle demon to get a write-up featured in an Infernals supplement.

Those premium reward tiers have limited slots, and most have been claimed, but there are always adjustments in these final days as budgets are calculated and pledges locked down, so act quickly if you're thinking about a premium reward tier and you see a slot open up.

About 4-6 weeks after the campaign is over we'll launch our BackerKit Pledge Manager and invite the backers to set up their rewards via survey. This allows you to confirm your pledge and add on anything that you might have missed, as well as possibly increasing your pledged reward tier, should you choose to expand your reward selection. This option will give backers additional time to investigate shipping options, should they choose, knowing they can confirm a physical reward at a later date. We will also use BackerKit's Pledge Manager to charge actual shipping costs for orders when we're approaching order fulfillment. Funding collected by BackerKit after the crowdfunding campaign does not count toward any campaign Stretch Goals, however.

Again, after the Crowdfunding campaign, in the Pledge Manager, you 'll be able to:

Review and update your Pledge Level selection - for example, you can pledge to the Newly Crowned level during the Crowdfunding campaign and then switch to the Green Sun Prince level once we know shipping costs and are preapring to fulfill the hardcover rewards

Confirm and Update your Shipping information - you'll be able to update your final delivery address up until we're shipping out the hardcover rewards

Pay for Shipping and additional Add On Options - we'll process payments for shipping costs and additional add-ons selected in your Pledge Manager survey when we get closer to hardcover reward fulfillment

You'll note that two rewards - Access to the Manuscript Previews and Participation in Post-Campaign Pledge Manager - are included in ALL reward tiers. That's just one of the perks of participating in this crowdfunding campaign!

OPTIONAL DISCOUNTED PoD VERSION – For this Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire campaign, you will have the option of using DriveThruRPG.com’s Print-On-Demand service to purchase a printed copy of the PDF directly from their PoD partners at discounted cost (this cost is not included in your pledge, and you do not need to increase the cost of your pledge to use this option). When the PoD versions are available to order, you will receive links to purchase these versions of the books from DriveThruRPG.com. Choosing Your Reward Tier

There has been some churn over this past week - a few Reward Tier adjustments and changes by backers, as budgets changed and people have read the manuscript previews. In these final days it's best to ensure that you've selected the Reward Tier that offers you the options and rewards you want to receive and are ready to lock down. This timing - before the campaign ends - is the absolute most affordable and inclusive these rewards will be, and will save headaches and heartbreaks if fully considered now.

This is just the first step, however, in completing your pledge for this campaign. Funds for additional extras can be added to your pledge by selecting Add On options and increasing the overall funding and maybe getting us closer to a Stretch Goal.

First Step: Reward Tier

To summarize the first part of this post, the absolute best way to ensure that you're getting the primary rewards you want from this crowdfunding campaign is to ensure you've selected the appropriate Backer Reward Tier. Selecting the right Reward Tier covers about 90% of the options available to you. If you want a PDF only, make sure you've selected the correct reward. If you want the hardcover version, double-check your reward tier to ensure the proper option is featured. If you're going digital now but want the option of getting a discounted Print-on-Demand copy later, make sure you've got a reward tier that includes it.

Once you've completed that important step, you're going to want to look at the Add On rewards for any reward "bits" that don't automatically fall into your reward tier. That takes us to the Add On step.

Step Two: Add-On Options

Once you've chosen your pledge tier, you've likely already included the main rewards you want. In addition to the rewards offered as part of the Reward Tier configurations, there are a few other possible rewards you may wish to add. All Add-On rewards are described in our Add On menu below.

You can select an Add On option, which will increase the amount of your pledge by the listed amount. Add on options will be selected and confirmed again in the Pledge Manager when that's up and running.

We offer Add On options that will let you add additional copies of the PDF or deluxe hardcover to your rewards list, as well as the Storyteller Screen we unlocked via Stretch Goals earlier in the campaign. Beyond that, Onyx Path is also offering digital version of previous Third Edition releases, some material that utilizes the Exalted: Essence system, and two big bundles of previous edition material only available during this campaign.

Exalted Third Edition Core Rulebook PDF depicts both a revitalized and expanded Creation, and the triumphant return of the Solar Exalted—but whether their rebirth will herald the salvation or destruction of the world, none can say. The system redesign takes the best parts of the previous editions and streamlines the mechanics for maximum playability. The primary rulebook for Solar Exalted.

Dragon-Blooded: What Fire Has Wrought PDF provides everything that players and Storytellers need to introduce the Dragon-Blooded into their story. In addition to details of life in the Scarlet Realm, Lookshy, and among a variety of outcaste groups, it covers character creation and Dragon-Blooded Charms, along with new Merits, spells, martial arts styles, and heirloom artifacts that can be included in any game.

Lunars: Fangs at the Gates PDF provides everything players and Storytellers need to introduce Lunars into their story. It details the Silver Pact, its ancient vendetta, and the Lunar dominions spread throughout Creation. It also contains Lunar character creation, Charms, and rules for shapeshifting, as well as new Merits, spells, martial arts, and artifacts that can be included in any game.

Exigents: Out of the Ashes PDF covers the Exigents, many and myriad, but also utterly unique. They’re not a single kind of Exalted, but the manifold Chosen of Creation’s countless little gods. In times of dire need, gods can petition the Unconquered Sun for a spark of the Exigence — a bonfire of pure, creative power — to raise up their own Exalted champions. Crucible of Legend PDF presents Storytellers and groups playing Exalted with tools to help them tell the stories of their characters in Creation and beyond. The conflicts of the Time of Tumult are the myths of the age to come.

Arms of the Chosen PDF lets you discover the mystical power of the five magical materials and the secrets of creating your own Evocations. The Realm PDF expands on the history, politics, culture, law, and economics of Creation's greatest and most terrible empire. It details the Realm's governmental institutions: the Thousand Scales ministries, the Deliberative, the magistracy, and the All-Seeing Eye military, and its state religion, the Immaculate Order. It also provides an in-depth look at the lands that make up the Realm, both its heart on the Blessed Isle, and its satrapies scattered across the world.

GREEN FIRE DAY BUNDLES

We've jumped through a few hoops and made a deal with the Unconquered Sun to bring you a couple of big offers for the remainder of the campaign.

A couple things to know about these GREEN FIRE DAY deals-

While the rest of our Add On options will be available to grab in the Pledge Manager after the campaign, these digital bundle offers will only be available during this crowdfunding campaign. So if you really want them, you gotta add them to your pledge before we finish up on December 18.
These aren't necessarily cheap, but they are substantially discounted from the cost of buying all of these titles individually or even as a normally-discounted bundle.
They're obviously not Exalted Third Edition products, but these earlier editions offer a ton of ideas and lore that you can always use pieces of for your game. Some of the lore sits perfectly across all editions, some is wildly divergent, and some is just *out there* but it's always fascinating.

Pick a Pledge Tier, then Add On Options

Ready to join in? If you're backing for the first time, you can click BACK IT and select your Pledge Tier and finalize funding amount in the next menu.

Using myself as an example, I'm looking at the Infernals deluxe hardcover book. Once I click BACK IT, I see my pledge level options. If I want to know a bit more about each level, I can click Learn More, or if I know what I'm looking for, I can click Back It.

It should be pretty self-explanatory, but you can click on the "Learn More" button to expand the Pledge Level info. For example, Clicking Learn More on the Green Sun Prince pledge gives you...

This is the reward I'm choosing, as it exactly fits my needs for this project.

Once you're ready, you can click that BACK IT button and go right to Add On options.

For example, I've decided on the $125 Deluxe Hardcover pledge, so I select BACK IT for that tier, and then I want to add on a few of the optional Add On extras to my rewards list. I'm going to add the Storyteller Screen and take advantage of the Green Fire Day deals during this campaign and really beef up my Exalted digital library.

And with that, my pledge level and Add On options are set for your pledge. At this time, you don't need to worry about setting shipping information.

You should also be aware that any available Add On options will be made available in our BackerKit pledge manager, with the exception of the Complete Collection Bundles, so if you're unsure about adding on something at this point, you will be able to adjust your pledge in the post-campaign phase.

Pledging to the campaign also opens up the Stretch Goal rewards as thanks for your participation. We'll review our Stretch Goal accomplishments on Wednesday, but it's important to note that backers who wait and Pre-Order the Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire book at a later date will not have any Stretch Goal rewards automatically added to their rewards list, though many of the rewards we've unlocked are things that will be open to the Onyx Path community as a whole and eventually released for purchase on DTRPG.

REWARD DELIVERY

About 4-6 weeks after the campaign has ended, I'll launch our post-campaign Pledge Manager to collect information from all backers and confirm which rewards you'll be receiving. At that point, you'll be able to review your rewards and also also adjust any Add On Options that you may have missed. Once we have everything confirmed, I'll be able to deliver any rewards that are currently available - like existing The World Below PDF. Backers who have pledged for these options will be sent special redemption links to claim these digital rewards from our partners at DriveThruRPG.com. Clicking these redemption links will allow you to add these PDF titles to your digital library to download anytime. I'll send an update when all of that is happening, though, so you are aware every step of the way.

So, while it will take some time for Infernals to move from manuscript form to a final product, you won't be waiting a year for PDFs that already exist. (You'll be waiting about 5-7 weeks or so, just enough time for us to set up the reward infrastructure.)

Physical Books

If you're waiting to see the International shipping costs before upgrading your PDF pledge to any of the hardcover reward tiers, or you want to hold off until after you receive your Exigents or Sidereal deluxe editions, you'll have lots of time for that. We won't close the Pledge Manager until the books are ready to print and we know what shipping costs will be, so you'll be able to go back and adjust your pledge tier at that time.

It's going to take some time to create the final PDF for Infernals: Crowned by Hellfire and even longer for the eventual print run for the deluxe hardcover books. When the books are at the printer, I will be in touch with all backers to outline timeline for pledge adjustments, as well as lockdown procedures and when we'll be confirming addresses and processing BackerKit Add Ons and Shipping payments. That's a long time away, and we'll cover that as we get closer to that part of the process.

Don't fret if you had forgotten to select additional rewards by the end of the campaign. These Add Ons will be available to select in our post-campaign Pledge Manager (with the exception of the Green Fire Day deals, as noted) for those who participated in our campaign and have full access to the Pledge Manager. So, if you are undecided at this time, you will be able to hold off until we're closer to the final reward shipment goes out.

Again, your first step should involve your main reward selection, and your Add On Options will build upon that. If you selected the PDF-only tier, you can investigate PDF and digital options. If you select a hardcover tier, you will be able to add physical reward options like the Storyteller Screen.

Note that all funds are expressed in US Dollars, so take into account your conversion as needed.

It Adds Up!

That should explain the process of Selecting your Reward Level and adding Add On options and confirming your TOTAL PLEDGE AMOUNT. Since increasing your pledge amount increases the overall funding level of the project, add-ons can help us achieve our Stretch Goal funding targets, so it benefits us all to suggest that you double-check to make sure you're getting all of the rewards you want.

Additionally, this may go without saying, please review your personal budget and ensure you've selected the appropriate reward tier and add ons for your current financial situation. BackerKit will begin charging your payment method at midnight the day the campaign ends, so ensure you've budgeted correctly. Choose what works best for you now and is affordable at this time, knowing that you can upgrade your pledge level or choose Add Ons in the Pledge Manager at a late date.

There are no refunds for regret, and the funds raised start being spent immediately on paying for the work done thus far and the additional work ahead plus the projects unlocked via Stretch Goal. So please be financially responsible.

And beyond that - please make sure you've investigated and selected any add-ons you wish to receive.
